Starbucks Drops Limited-Edition Motto Frappuccino in Japan Stores

Starbucks Japan introduces its second melon-flavored frappuccino in Japan.

Starbucks is adding another melon flavor to its menu list in Japan. The Japanese unit of the American coffee chain is set to release a new limited-edition drink called the Motto Gohobi Melon.

Most of Starbucks Japan's popular drinks make a seasonal comeback every year, and this year, the company is offering its favorite fruity flavor, melon, once again. However, this is not the same drink that was introduced earlier; rather, this is the second melon-flavored frappuccino to be introduced to the restaurant's menu, according to SoraNews24.

Comeback for the Summer Season

The Motto Gohobi Melon will be in Starbucks stores in Japan for a limited period. It will be released as part of the brand's summer theme this year: "Splash Summer, Let's Burst." The name of the frappuccino drink came from the Japanese term "gohobi," which translates to "reward" in English. In Japan, this word is commonly used when a person wants to treat himself or herself after a busy, stressful day.

The "motto" in the beverage's name also means "more"; thus, Starbucks chose to name the drink "Motto Gohobi Melon" as this frappuccino was made to give customers a more rewarding experience every time they dine. This drink is similar to the first melon beverage launched earlier this month; the difference is that the second version has orange melon pulps on top. Another new drink is called the Vanilla Cream Frappuccino.

Availability and Prices

The new melon drinks will be available in Starbucks stores across Japan starting April 26, and these will be sold until May 28. Starbucks Rewards members can buy the drinks through the company's official app.

Customers may get the Motto Gohobi Melon frappuccino for 756 yen for takeout or 770 yen for dine-in drink-in. The Vanilla Cream Frappuccino with Melon costs less, at 639 yen for takeout or 651 yen for dine-in orders. Meanwhile, Japan Today mentioned that this is the third year Starbucks has made melon-flavored frappuccino for the summer.
