ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 22, 2018 -- SportsArt today announces its partnership with The Imaginarium ECO Gym at I-Square. I-Square is a mixed-use development complex that houses The Imaginarium, The Market at I-Square, The Irondequoit Conference Center, outdoor Amphitheater, and various office spaces. The Imaginarium is an educational Arts & Science center dedicated to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The Imaginarium’s ECO Gym features 21 pieces of SportsArt’s ECO-POWR equipment, including 17 indoor cycles, two recumbent bikes and two ellipticals which help power the building.
The Imaginarium is a two-story, 9,000-square-foot, Net Zero Energy building featuring a geothermal heating and cooling system. The building generates electricity on site through the 21 pieces of ECO-POWR gym equipment, a 26-kilowatt rooftop solar PV system, and 2 8.9-kilowatt small wind turbines. The ECO Gym is one of the many services located within the building, with memberships available for purchase.
“The Imaginarium has been a passion project for quite some time, and when our team began to develop the ECO Gym, we knew SportsArt’s ECO-POWR equipment would align with our goals to create a sustainable environment while offsetting costs,” said Mike Nolan, owner of I-Square. “The addition of SportsArt’s equipment helps the gym run solely on the power that the building is creating itself, helping achieve our goal of Net Zero Energy.”
SportsArt’s ECO-POWR cardio equipment works by turning human energy into utility grade electricity through a micro-inverter technology. When plugged into an outlet, the equipment converts the energy produced through the workout into kilowatts – capable of producing more than 160 watt-hours of electricity in a single workout.
“Working with the team at I-Square has been a pleasure and we are thrilled to partner with a business that values sustainability. We’re so impressed by everything The Imaginarium is doing for the environment and we’re happy to help them operate at Net Zero Energy,” said Ivo Grossi, CEO of the Americas for SportsArt. “It is exciting to watch the I-Square community grow and see how our sustainable equipment is implemented into the new ECO Gym.
