South Korea to host first ICO Roadshow on September 6th, 2017

Initial coin Offering (ICO) has become one of the most popular ways of raising funds. The amount raised by this method is already running into billions of dollars. Some of the most successful ICO drives include Filecoin (approximately $252 million), Tezos ($232 million), EOS ($185 million), Bancor ($153 million).

EconoTimes and THEblockchain are going to co-host the first ICO Roadshow in Seoul on September 6th, 2017.

Building up on the success of the conference on “ICO: Crowdfunding & Investment Strategy Conference the Digital Currency Era” held in May, the roadshow event will bring together innovative startups planning ICOs, ICO investors, and supporters.

Confirmed event participants, at the time of writing, include Metaps Plus, NEM, Stable, Wolk, Rockchain, RootProject, and StormToken. The event will provide an opportunity to the startups to present their projects as well as build their networks.

Sonny Kwon, organizer of the event, said, “The event will bring together startups and investors under one roof. Investors considering to invest in ICOs should focus on the team behind these projects, which is key to successful ICOs and thereby their profitability.”

Korea is an attractive market for startups preparing for ICOs. Earlier in May, Korean blockchain-based platform BOScoin raised over $12 M within 17 hours.

However, the officials are taking the ICO success stories with a grain of salt. Law enforcement agencies, including the National Intelligence Service (NIS), are closely monitoring the virtual currency market, Business Korea reported.

Some officials from financial authorities said, “The recent rise in cryptocurrency prices has taken on a speculation aspect.” An official said, “It is a clear speculation. In particular, it is difficult to evaluate the value of an initial coin offering (ICO), which issues a new coin, so it can make unreasonable profits.”
