Taiwan's exports slid faster in August, as did export orders and industrial production. The gloomy picture of external demand doesn't seem to have improved meaningfully in September.
The Nikkei/Markit manufacturing PMI rose marginally to 46.9 from 46.1, but still remained way below 50.
"Therefore, no significant improvement is expected in trade in September. That said, the positive base effects are likely to have raised trade growth, in particular import growth", says Societe Generale.
