Ever wonder what Sheldon Cooper is like when he was a kid?

CBS finally answered fans’ questions this question when the network ordered  the spinoff “Young Sheldon” for its multi-awarded comedy series. The Hollywood Reporter said “Big Little Lies” actor Iain Armitage will take on the precocious role, and Zoe Perry taking on the role of his mother, Mary Cooper. Laurie Metcalfe played the older version of Sheldon’s mom in “The Big Bang Theory.” Lance Barber, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan are also confirmed to join the cast, but sources told the entertainment news site that Revord will play Sheldon's twin sister Missy; Barber will play Sheldon and Missy's father and Mary's husband, George; and Jordan will play George Jr., Sheldon's older brother. The spinoff will revolve around Sheldon’s life with his family in East Texas as he goes to high school, ala “Malcolm in the Middle.”

As for Jim Parsons, who played one of the most famous nerd characters in TV history, he will be on board as a narrator, USA Today reports. Although “The Big Bang Theory” co-creator Bill Prady will not be attached to the spinoff, executive producers Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro will be on board. Jon Favreau will executive-produce and direct the pilot.

E! Said “Young Sheldon” was ordered at a time when the original series stars are at the end of their contracts. Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg will be taking massive paycuts in support of their co-stars Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch, who are currently in salary increase negotiations. Once the deals are finalized, they will be on board for the show’s Seasons 11 and 12.

CBS boss Glenn Geller told reporters at the TCA Summer Press Tour last year, "We are very confident that everyone involved wants more Big Bang past year 10 and I know Warner Bros. will make those deals."
