This month, one of the biggest scandals in South Korea broke out and left many fans around the world stunned. At the center of it all is former Big Bang member Seungri and other K-Pop stars. However, one unlikely name also got entangled with the series of controversies — socialite and heiress Kim Lim.

A certain private conversation between Seungri and Kim leaked to the public this month. That might have implied that the latter had knowledge of the illegal activities going in a Gangnam-based nightclub and is now a center of a police investigation and the so-called Burning Sun scandal. However, Seungri has since cleared things out and denied that Kim was involved in the scandal, Allkpop reported.

Kim has also issued her own statement through her Instagram account. She confirmed that Seungri called her “sometime before” the scandal made headlines. In Kim’s statement, Seungri reportedly told her about a leaked conversation revealing that he had been “allegedly soliciting prostitutes for his investors.” However, the said phone call left her confused, the socialite added, as it was not clear to her why Seungri needed to tell her about it.

As the story developed, it was also made clear how Kim’s name will be caught up in the controversy. “The article suggested that he arranged for me to party together with other girls, whom he claims are not prostitutes,” Kim wrote. “To clarify on Dec 9, 2015, I was in Korea with my friends from Singapore. We went to Club Arena... and Seungri arranged for a VIP table for our group.”

Kim also clarified that she and friends partied without the presence of people outside their group may it be fellow clubgoers or staff. In the end, she told her social media followers that she was “simply at the wrong place and at the wrong time.”

Meanwhile, Seungri has since announced his retirement from the entertainment business. “I decided on retiring from the entertainment industry as the issues that I caused a societal disturbance with are too major,” he wrote to his over 8.9 million followers on Instagram (via Soompi).
