Samsung Electronics opened a new flagship store, "Samsung Gangnam," in Seoul's fashion-forward Gangnam district on Thursday. The innovative outlet, situated near a rival Apple Store, is designed as a high-tech playground, targeting Gen Z consumers with immersive, on-offline shopping experiences and interactive exhibits.
Samsung Electronics welcomed customers in the stylish store on Thursday, June 29, and it is located just 500 meters away from the Apple Store. According to Aju Business Daily, the electronics giant is currently operating a total of 360 stores named "Samsung Digital Plaza" in South Korea, and each one has a showroom for displaying its latest devices.
Other branches have a dedicated customer service center, so customers will have a space where they can have their smartphones and other devices repaired. For its newly-opened flagship store, the company chose to name it "Samsung Gangnam," and it will offer a variety of products and unique shopping experiences.
To appeal to young shoppers in their 20s and 30s, the store will feature many things that they will surely like. In fact, Samsung Electronics also described the outlet as a "playground" for visitors.
Moreover, the company installed the "In Store Mode" to provide a convenient and satisfying on and offline shopping experience. Through this solution, customers will be able to use their smartphones to go around the flagship store easily and join various events in real time.
On the third level of Samsung Gangnam, people can try going to a virtual space that is close to their home's layout and organize it by arranging the company's home appliances. In this way, they can check if an item fits their home or not before making a decision to buy.
"It is Samsung Gangnam's goal to create a playground that targets the MZ generation," the vice president of Samsung's Mobile Experience (MX) division, Jung Ho Jin, said in a statement before the opening.
Yonhap News Agency further quoted the VP as saying when asked why they chose the location for the flagship store, "The area near Gangnam Station has always been a place for young people to gather and spend time together. We would like to see people freely come to visit here, even for just a quick bathroom run."
