Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were recently spotted in more teaser photos for the upcoming “Outlander” season 4. Their characters, Jamie and Claire, look distrustful and sad, respectively, which likely hints at how they will generally feel in the next series installment.

In an exclusive first-look photo shared by Entertainment Weekly, Heughan and Balfe are seen dressed appropriately for the era they will be in in “Outlander” season 4. Claire and Jamie are standing outside an estate in River Run, North Carolina where they will be initially staying with Jamie’s aunt Jocasta Cameron (Maria Doyle Kennedy).

Though obviously being guarded by armed men, Heughan and Balfe’s characters still do not seem to be at ease in the photo. Claire is obviously worried about something while Jamie has a piercing glare as if he is deciding whether or not someone near them can be trusted.

Along with the release of the said photo, Caitriona Balfe also revealed that Jocasta will somewhat have a similar personality to Claire but they will still be disagreeing on several things. The actress told Entertainment Weekly, “There’s a likeness between the two women, but for Claire, it’s very hard to get past the fact that Jocasta is a plantation owner with slaves.”

Of course, Balfe’s Claire had already been in a later era where she witnessed the minorities’ fight for civil rights. But it would be impossible to explain that to Jocasta, who obviously does not mind keeping a slave in her home. “Jocasta doesn’t understand what Claire’s concerns are. That stops them from being able to really form any proper bond,” Heughan’s onscreen lover added.

In another set of “Outlander” season 4 teaser photos via TVLine, Sam Heughan’s Jamie is seen very tense and pointing two guns at someone while in the woods. Could this be one of this encounters with the next season’s main villain Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers)?

As for Balfe’s Claire, she is seen in a couple of photos working on some herbal medicines. In one image, Claire is in the woods sorting out plants while also having a conversation with an elderly Native American.
