The rumors surrounding another death in the season finale of The CW drama “Riverdale” appears to be true.
Rumored about a second death in “Riverdale” started when one of its stars, Like Perry, said at WonderCon that someone “disreputable” will join the late Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines) before Season 2 starts, Moviepilot said. It was later confirmed by the show’s executive producer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, much later.
Aguirre-Sacasa put the rumors to rest with Entertainment Weekly and said that there is some truth to it,just as many are suggesting. He said, “Yes, there is truth to that rumor. If the rumored death happens, it would go to set up Season 2. … It has all the different elements that are great about the show combined into one, meaning there’s music in it, there’s romance, there’s suspense and horror. It’s kind of like the ultimate “Riverdale” episode.”
Aguirre-Sacasa fell short of saying which “Riverdale” character would get killed. However, he did reveal that Lee Toland Krieger, who directed the show’s pilot episode, will be helming the season finale.
Aguirre-Sacasa’s comments ties it nicely with his response about the possibility that the show will take its inspiration from an “Archie” Comics alternate universe, “Afterlife With Archie.” In the comics, Riverdale is threatened with a zombie plague after Sabrina botches a spell on Jughead’s dead dog. Actor Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead in the series, also emphasized that Season 2 will have more on "dark" and "weird." In one episode, Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) dreamt of meeting a zombified Jason. If that’s the case, then we all better stay tuned.
