Ripple, a leading blockchain payments company, has announced a major partnership with DriveWealth, a global brokerage infrastructure provider, to introduce blockchain-powered payments, stablecoin settlements, and digital asset custody services to traditional financial markets.
The collaboration aims to integrate Ripple's institutional blockchain solutions into DriveWealth's global investment infrastructure, potentially expanding the adoption of digital assets across financial institutions and investment platforms.
DriveWealth operates as a brokerage-as-a-service provider, supporting more than 100 partners worldwide, including fintech companies, digital wallets, and financial institutions offering access to U.S. stock markets.
Through the partnership, Ripple could significantly strengthen its presence in traditional finance by bringing its blockchain technology to DriveWealth's extensive network of investment platforms.
A central component of the agreement involves Ripple USD (RLUSD), the company's U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, which will be used to facilitate institutional settlements.
DriveWealth plans to initially introduce RLUSD-based settlements on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) in Europe before expanding the service to the United States.
The integration will also utilize Ripple's stablecoin minting and burning capabilities, allowing institutional clients to fund and manage collateral accounts using digital dollars.
By enabling near-real-time conversion between stablecoins and traditional currencies, the partnership seeks to reduce reliance on conventional banking transfers, particularly for international transactions.
Traditional cross-border payments can take considerable time to process, creating challenges for financial institutions that require immediate access to trading capital.
Using RLUSD on the XRP Ledger could help DriveWealth's institutional customers move funds more efficiently, improve liquidity management, and accelerate access to capital without depending heavily on bank wire transfers.
The initiative also addresses the timing differences between U.S. equity settlement cycles and international money transfers, potentially improving operational efficiency for global brokerage clients.
Beyond stablecoin payments, Ripple and DriveWealth are exploring additional opportunities involving Ripple Prime, the company's institutional prime brokerage platform.
The companies are evaluating potential equity financing solutions through Ripple Prime's Delta One capabilities, which could further connect blockchain-based financial infrastructure with traditional investment services.
The partnership represents another step in Ripple's broader strategy to expand RLUSD adoption, strengthen institutional blockchain services, and bridge the gap between digital assets and global financial markets.
