Poland consumer prices likely to have increased in September

Consumer prices in Poland are expected to have increased in September. According to a Societe Generale research note, deflation in the nation is likely to have come in at -0.5 percent year-on-year, as compared with -0.8 percent recorded in August. This is consistent with the flash estimate.

In sequential terms consumer prices are expected to have increased 0.1 percent in September. Inflation is anticipated to have been mainly driven by prices of transport that might have risen by 1.3 percent sequentially, with fuel prices up 2.6 percent month-on-month.

The year-on-year rise in inflation is also likely to be mostly due to transport prices. In the September of last year, prices of transport had dropped 3.2 percent sequentially. Moreover, food prices are expected to have increased slightly by 0.2 percent sequentially and prices of clothing and footwear are likely to have increased 0.8 percent, stated Societe Generale.

“We forecast core inflation at -0.2 percent yoy, up from - 0.4 percent in August”, added Societe Generale.
