Paycom Software, Inc. stepped up to help fund Canine Companions® in its efforts to provide highly trained service dogs to disabled children, adults and veterans free of cost. Accessibility and affordability are often barriers for these individuals to get a service dog, so by partnering with Canine Companions, Paycom is helping increase awareness of this worthy endeavor.
What Is Canine Companions?
Canine Companions , founded in 1975, is a nonprofit organization that trains and matches service dogs to individuals with disabilities and provides facility dogs for professionals in various industries like healthcare, education and criminal justice. People with physical or cognitive disabilities who receive service dogs can live more independently.
The organization has gained a much-deserved reputation as a leader in the industry for matching individuals and facilities with quality service animals that receive intensive training from experienced staff. The dogs' training, placement and follow-up services are always free to the recipient. Its success has led to a waitlist of applicants as more people trust Canine Companions to deliver compassionate service, ongoing support and a commitment to using the best practices and program methods available in the industry.
As director of philanthropy, Laura Manning states, "At Canine Companions, the lives of children, adults and veterans are impacted each day through partnership with a service dog. These life-changing matches provide greater independence, confidence and love and would not be possible without the dedicated support of our friends at Paycom."
Paycom's Support of Canine Companions
Community support and involvement are cornerstones of Canine Companions' ability to continue its work. The organization is funded through private contributions, like Paycom's donation of $35,000 to Canine Companions through its employee giving program and company dollar-for-dollar match. This gift from Paycom, a company that's become a leader in providing cloud-based human capital management software solutions, will cover the veterinary expenses for 12 service dogs throughout their professional training.
Paycom's employees were excited to get more involved with their chosen recipient of the employee giving program. "Our employees continue to donate to this organization because they believe in its purpose," said Amy Walker, executive vice president of sales at Paycom. "We hope our contributions result in many perfect matches for Canine Companion clients who need a service dog."
Along with monetary donations, Paycom sales interns volunteered their time to Canine Companions as part of a celebration of National Intern Day. The interns cooked and served breakfast for the staff raising the puppies. "This internship has been memorable for multiple reasons, but being a part of events like these has shifted my worldview and made me realize the value of working for a company that gives back," said Lily Martinson, sales intern at Paycom.
