Leading European football team Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has stated it is including Bitcoin in its financial reserves, therefore becoming the first well-known sports team to do so. Pär Helgosson, chief of PSG Labs, announced the news at the Bitcoin 2025 conference. Starting last year, PSG began converting a part of its fiat reserves into Bitcoin; it now holds these assets.
PSG's huge, young fan base drives the choice; over 80% of its 550 million fans are under 34 years old . The club sees Bitcoin as matching the interests of its digitally native fans. Apart from financial planning, PSG Labs is aggressively sponsoring Bitcoin initiatives, using the club's worldwide reach to advance ideas in the digital asset field.
With the PSG Fan Token (PSG) rising in value by roughly 5–7%, the market welcomed the news. PSG's embrace of Bitcoin sets a standard for other sports groups and emphasizes how widely digital assets are now incorporated into main financial system.
