After weeks of appearing in various leaks, the Oppo Find X5 series has been finally revealed with a few surprises. The lineup is composed of two devices, a regular and a Pro model, but only one of them is powered by Qualcomm’s latest premium mobile SoC.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is, not surprisingly, the chipset that powers the Oppo Find X5 Pro. The regular model, on the other hand, uses the older Snapdragon 888. While the chipset launched in late 2020 is technically an older product, its power is still enough to make the Oppo Find X5 base model a powerful smartphone.
There are a few more key differences between the Oppo Find X5 and Oppo Find X5 Pro. The regular model has a 6.55-inch FHD AMOLED LTPS display, while the Pro model has a 6.70-inch QHD+ AMOLED LTPS panel. Both devices have triple cameras on the rear with two 50MP sensors and a 13MP telephoto lens, but only the Pro model features the more advanced 5-Axis optical image stabilization in the main camera.
The Oppo Find X5 Pro screen has QHD+ 3216 x 1440 resolution, while the regular model only has 2400 x 1080 pixels. Both phones use dual-cell battery technology, with overall capacities of 4800mAh and 5000mAh on the Oppo Find X5 and Oppo Find X5 Pro, respectively. The standard storage capacity of the series is 256GB. The base model has 8GB RAM, while its bigger sibling has 12GB.
The Oppo Find X5 and Oppo Find X5 Pro also sport a small distinct difference in the design. The former’s camera bump has a visible frame, but the Pro model features the staple seamless bump known for the Find X series.
Aside from these distinct specs and features between the two models, both Oppo Find X5 devices sport many similarities. Their cameras were both co-developed by Hasselblad, and they both leverage Oppo’s new MariSilicon X NPU that promises a “4K Ultra Night” video mode. The phones run on the ColorOS 12.1 skin based on Android 12.
Pre-orders for the Oppo Find X5 phones are now available, but the devices will not arrive in stores until March 14.
