LEXINGTON, S.C., May 24, 2017 -- Avtec Inc., the nation’s leading independent provider of mission-critical Radio over Internet Protocol (RoIP) dispatch console systems, has completed a communications center upgrade for Blue Ridge Energy, formerly known as Blue Ridge Electric Membership Cooperative. Headquartered in Lenoir, N.C., Blue Ridge Energy serves northwest North Carolina with member services and operations offices located in Lenoir, Boone, West Jefferson, and Sparta, N.C.
The upgraded center features the latest voice dispatch communications technology, including four Avtec Scout™ Internet Protocol (IP) dispatch consoles; an Avtec Mini SIP console – a hardware device that connects to the Scout infrastructure and controls up to four radio endpoints; and Avtec Ranger™ dispatch software, which runs on a Wi-Fi-enabled LTE tablet for disaster recovery and emergency situations. The project upgrade was led by Wireless Communications' General Manager Dave Walton and Account Executive Randy Heaton. Wireless Communications is an Avtec authorized reseller.
