The release date for Hello Games' updated procedural space explorer game “No Man's Sky NEXT” is getting closer and closer, and along with this, the much-awaited Xbox One release of the ambitious and controversial game. The original release of “No Man's Sky” back in 2016 was limited to the PlayStation 4 and the Windows platform. It, unfortunately, did not live up to the marketing hype that Hello Games created around the game.
Some of the issues included procedural generation promises being scaled back upon release and multiplayer being initially unavailable. Reddit user u/Cymen90 released a comprehensive list of the shortcomings the original release had compared to developer promises in an old Reddit post.
Hello Games Director Sean Murray, in an interview with Ars Technica, opened up about the challenges that the initial release of “No Man's Sky” had and how the new version of the game, “No Man's Sky NEXT,” aims to deliver on those promises with a more realistic approach compared to the 2016 release.
“No Man's Sky NEXT” was announced through official Xbox channels. Along with the announcement were promises that the “No Man's Sky” that would be released for the Xbox would come with many improvements that were originally planned and promised during the 2016 release.
With the exciting announcement of “No Man's Sky NEXT,” people have been grappling for more news on the improvements that the ambitious space game would implement. The official Xbox channel released a trailer for “No Man's Sky NEXT” on July 17 in anticipation of the revamped title's release, but the two-minute gameplay footage shown doesn't seem to satisfy the waiting gamers.
More recently, a Reddit post by u/leraff showed potentially leaked footage of the upcoming game which was sourced through the game's unofficial Discord channel. The post and comments come with the disclaimer that the new “No Man's Sky NEXT” experience can still potentially change with a day-one patch, similar to the experience of most players back with 2016's original release.
“No Man's Sky NEXT's” Xbox One version will be released tomorrow, July 24.
