New course on Ethereum engineering hosts accreditation on blockchain

A new course on Ethereum engineering which teaches developers on how to use Ethereum and aims in training over 2000 engineers in next two years will be hosting accreditation on the blockchain technology.

The course is run by a team of three blockchain experts from B9Lab, Elias Haase, Ibo Sy and Xavier Lepretre who have been in the programming field for over 35 years. It is a nine-week course that initially features the basics of crypto-economics, defining smart contracts and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) which will later delve into Solidity, the main programming language of Ethereum.

Talking to IBTimes in an interview, Elias Haase, co-founder B9Lab said that, "What is really important now is to get lots of people into the ecosystem. We see that there is money sloshing around and lots of interest from lots of companies. But everyone is struggling to find the people."

The course will provide certificated which will be signed on the Ethereum blockchain for those students who maintain an average of 80 % aggregate or higher. B9Lab found that some 70% of people managed to get the certificate from testing groups of trainees. Haase said that, B9Lab wants to be rigorous and the certificate to really mean something.

Talking about the course fee structure, Haase mentioned that, “It costs £830 to take the training. For many people that's a lot of money. It is an intense course and an investment. We think it's maybe one and a half days rates for an Ethereum developer, to pay for the training."

The hardest part about learning how to develop smart contracts and decentralized apps is wrapping one's head around this new computation paradigm, said Haase. He explained saying, "With regular coding paradigms you write an interface and you expect that what will be shown on the interface is like an absolute thing. The numbers are absolute: they don't change. But on the blockchain you might be on a fork so the numbers might change; you look at it again and the reality is different."

This course teaches software engineers about Ethereum, Solidity which is the programming language, and how to use web3 and the Truffle framework. This course will start from June 14 and students have to spend around 4 to 6 hours a week on each of nine modules and homework.
