OMAHA, Neb., Dec. 12, 2017 -- The Palmer College of Chiropractic and Gallup have produced a study that, out of 6,300 participants, reveals that 78% of respondents would use medications only after using holistic methods first.
The Chiropractic Annual Study of Americans is a survey by Gallup-Palmer College of Chiropractic. The other respondents in the study, 54 percent, deal with chronic back or neck pain and stated they turned to a health care provider and medications. In this case, the duration of the pain was five years or longer.
The holistic means of treatment that the 78 percent of respondents were referring are chiropractic care, massage therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture, pain management, and other natural treatments.
In fact, according to the study chiropractic care ranked among the highest choices for alternatives to medication. The respondents surveyed said they thought these treatments are safer and better compared to using medications to numb the pain and other symptoms.
The results of this are not surprising, especially when we’re going through what some medical experts have termed an “opioid addiction epidemic.”
According to a Time.com article on the topic, in 2016 alone, opioid use was at a high (25 percent), as was the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs (70 percent).
Further, a Gallup poll from 2016 discovered that most of those surveyed (44 percent) in the United States opined that opioid use was either a “very serious problem” to a “crisis.”
Dr. Mark Eiler of Chiropractic Health Clinic in Omaha has known for years that Americans are moving away from reliance on pain medication. “Chiropractic care doesn’t mask the symptoms like drugs do,” he said. “Instead, Chiropractic care gets to the root cause of your symptoms and allows your body to function and heal properly. You’ll be able to enjoy an active lifestyle with your family and friends the way you were designed too, without drugs.”
“Chiropractic Health Clinic is accepting patients who want to experience how chiropractic can restore and enhance their lives and the lives of their family members,” added Dr. Eiler.
Chiropractic Health Clinic is a family run chiropractic office in Omaha, Nebraska. The office features Dr. Mark Eiler, his son, Dr. Justin Eiler, and daughter-in-law, Dr. Andrea Eiler.
