AUSTIN, Texas, April 26, 2017 -- NSS Labs, Inc., the global leader in operationalizing cybersecurity, today announced a “call for input” for enterprises and vendors to further shape and evolve the design of its next Advanced Endpoint Protection (AEP) Group Test and accompanying Test Methodology. NSS Labs uses the term “advanced endpoint protection” to describe the category of security products that has emerged in response to traditional endpoint products’ inability to detect and block customized malware and unknown exploits. The results of NSS Labs’ group test will provide security effectiveness metrics and a projected three-year total cost of ownership (TCO) for leading AEP products to help enterprises accelerate their product selection processes.
Thus far, 2017 has proven to be a year of tremendous change and consolidation in the endpoint security segment. In the last three years, next generation endpoint technologies have netted more than US$1.8 billion in venture and private equity investment. NSS Labs estimates that the AEP market will grow approximately 43% in CY2017 and projects a CAGR of 32.2% from 2015 to 2020. The buzz in the marketplace around established vendors and new entrants to the space has left many enterprises at a crossroads regarding the best approach for implementing AEP solutions—should they rip-and-replace, or augment their existing security architectures?
Earlier this year, NSS Labs performed the industry’s most rigorous test of leading AEP solutions to date. Products from 13 different vendors were tested across a multitude of attack threat vectors targeting an enterprise-class threat landscape. “NSS Labs’ mission is to provide relevant, fact-based, and objective information required to help enterprises make informed decisions,” said Jason Brvenik, Chief Technology Officer of NSS Labs. “With this in mind, the call for input for our planned AEP Group Test is an invitation to the industry to provide feedback regarding the Test Methodology and the key metrics, use cases, and features that best represent real-world conditions. This is also an opportunity to suggest additional vendors for inclusion in the next round of testing. I strongly encourage participation in this endeavor to help improve the state of security.”
The AEP Group Test will begin in the second half of 2017 and the results will be announced in 2018. Both enterprises and vendors that wish to provide input can click here. Alternatively, enterprises can send their feedback to [email protected], and vendors can send their feedback to [email protected].
NSS Labs is committed to providing empirical data and objective group test results that enable security organizations to make educated decisions about purchasing and optimizing security infrastructure products and services. As with all NSS Labs group tests, there is no fee for participation, and the test methodology will be in the public domain to provide transparency and help enterprises understand the factors behind test results.
