The first-look photo of “NCIS” season 16 shows Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and forensics expert Kasie (Diona Reasonover) back in the lab. Meanwhile, the squad is expected to continue the search for Vance (Rocky Carroll).
The teaser photo was first shared by TV Insider, where Kasie seems to be showing Gibbs newly discovered information that made the latter look concerned and in awe. With a tiny peek into a microscope in the right part of the image, fans can tell that the two are back in the lab to work. Although it is still unknown what they are working on, the squad is certainly going to tackle Vance’s disappearance as soon as “NCIS” season 16 begins.
Fans who are not caught up with the latest news about the police procedural series should note that there is a new forensics expert in “NCIS” season 16. Kasie, who joined Abby (Pauley Perrette) in the lab several times in season 15, was recently promoted as part of the main cast. Seeing the new mainstay “NCIS” season 16’s first teaser photo could be hinting that she will immediately play an important role in her new squad.
After being a series regular for all 15 seasons of “NCIS,” actress Pauley Perrette decided to leave the show. Her character, Abby, said goodbye to her fans in a very emotional way following Duane’s (Clayton Reeves) shocking death.

With a new regular team member on board, Agent Gibbs and the rest of the squad are immediately faced with the task of finding Vance. TV Insider added that “NCIS” season 16 begins a month after Vance was last seen.

Agent Gibbs and the rest did not know how Vance vanished at the end of season 15. So it will be interesting to see how the squad will connect the dots in “NCIS” season 16 and figure out that Nigel Hakim (Pej Vahdat) escaped after kidnapping Vance.
Fans, just like the characters, have yet to find out where Hakim brought Vance. Hopefully, everyone gets to see how Vance is doing in the hands of his captor once “NCIS” season 16 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
