Elon Musk confirmed Wednesday that Tesla’s Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump Las Vegas hotel involved fireworks or a bomb. One person was killed, seven were injured, and authorities are investigating the incident as a possible act of terrorism.
Musk Confirms Cybertruck Explosion Near Trump Hotel Under Investigation
The shocking Cybertruck explosion that occurred in front of the Trump Las Vegas hotel on Wednesday has been partially explained by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla. There was one fatality and seven injuries reported in the incident, Teslarati reports.
Musk announced on X that the executive team at Tesla was looking into the Cybertruck explosion as soon as it happened.
Tesla Senior Team Investigates Cybertruck Incident
Musk promised to provide an update whenever Tesla received data from the tragic car.
“The whole Tesla senior team is investigating this matter right now. Will post more information as soon as we learn anything. We’ve never seen anything like this,” Musk posted on X.
After the Cybertruck explosion, Musk said in a subsequent post that Tesla could now confirm that the culprit was a bomb or explosives stashed in the bed of the electric pickup truck. It follows that the car and its parts were not at fault when the explosion occurred.
Rental Cybertruck Linked to Explosion
The unfortunate Cybertruck had been rented. The car was reportedly hired using Turo.
At the moment of the explosion, all vehicle telemetry was positive, as Musk also pointed out.
“We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself. All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion,” Musk tweeted, noting that Tesla vehicles continuously broadcast their health status.
Terrorism Investigations Center on Cybertruck Incident
In addition, the CEO restated the present belief of law enforcement that the act was likely purposeful.
“Appears probable to be an act of terrorism. Both this Cybertruck and the F-150 suicide bomb in New Orleans were rented from Turo. Perhaps they are linked in some way,” Musk added in a subsequent post.
The Cybertruck explosion is allegedly being examined as a possible act of terrorism, with three senior US law enforcement officials stating that the incident seemed purposeful, as mentioned in an MSNBC broadcast.
