The 67th Miss Universe pageant or Miss Universe 2018 is happening in a few days. Various winners predictions are now out online and Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers rarely appear in these lists, interestingly, amid a social media controversy.
Miss USA, along with Miss Colombia Valeria Morales and Australia’s Francesca Hung, were all in an Instagram Live video. At one point, Summers cited Miss Cambodia Nat Rern and Miss Vietnam H'Hen Niê as examples of fellow Miss Universe 2018 contestants who are not as fluent in speaking English as the others. Summers comments and imitating Niê gestures did not sit well with many pageant fans around the world.
Summers later addressed the issue saying she only meant to “admire the courage” of the non-native English speakers in the Miss Universe 2018. She added that she later realized her comments “can be perceived as not respectful” before apologizing.
Meanwhile, in various blogs and fan-based assessments online, Summers rarely appears in the Miss Universe 2018 top 5 or top 2 bets. The most commonly recurring names include Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green, Miss Philippines Catriona Gray, and Miss Puerto Rico Kiara Ortega. However, their predicted final places in the competition vary in every forecast.
The Conan Daily reminds its readers about correctly predicting the top 2 placers last year. With that said, it predicts Miss Philippines and Miss Mexico Andrea Toscano battling it out in the top 2 this year. The blog predicts Miss Mexico winning the Miss Universe 2018 crown.
CalvinAyre.com, on the other hand, is placing their hopes on Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Philippines in the top 2. Meanwhile, as far as betting pools are concerned, Sports Betting Dime reports Miss Philippines is a top favorite for the Miss Universe 2018 with +6600 odds.
The Facebook page simply named Miss Universe Predictions recently revealed their assessment after the Miss Universe 2018 contestants have arrived in Thailand. Miss USA and Miss Colombia are eyed to only make it in the top 10. The page predicts Miss Philippines will bring home the crown while Miss South Africa and Miss Puerto Rico are likely the runners-up.
Miss Universe 2018 is hosted in Bangkok, Thailand. The coronation event happens on Monday, Dec. 17, at 7 a.m. local time which translates to Sunday, Dec. 16, 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
