About five years since the freak accident Michael Schumacher encountered, many still remember him as one of the best Formula One drivers in history, including his rival Jacques Villeneuve. Meanwhile, his family recently denied owning a multi-million dollar mansion in Spain.

Every sports icon is known to have their equally skilled rivals. In Schumacher’s case, that would be Villeneuve. A quick search of the keywords “Schumacher vs. Villeneuve” will lead to a long list of videos and articles chronicling how they battled it out on the race tracks. But in a previous interview, Villeneuve did not hesitate to call Schumacher the “best driver.”

Jacques Villeneuve joined the Beyond the Grid podcast, where he said (via Daily Express), "Michael was the best driver, also because of his antics, and something could happen to him in every race.” Villeneuve added that competitions against Schumacher are moments that one “cannot easily forget.”

Their rivalry was particularly highlighted when Villeneuve pulled an overtake past Schumacher at Estoril in 1996, which many in his team deemed impossible to pull off. "Once, during testing, I'd told the team that the final corner was a bit like an oval, and I was convinced it was possible to overtake on the outside," Villeneuve recalled in a 2010 interview with ESPN.

In other news, Michael Schumacher’s family has once again straightened out rumors. This time, they clarified they are not moving residency from Switzerland to Spain. Schumacher’s representative, Sabine Kehm, said in a statement to Autosport, "The fact is the Schumacher family does not plan to move to Mallorca."

Reports about the supposed move to Spain came after Andratx Mayor Katia Rouarch's supposedly announced the family's move to the Mallorca municipality. But it was later clarified that the mayor's statement was misunderstood due to inaccurate translation.

In the municipality's follow-up statement, it was clarified that Mayor Rouarch only stated an already known fact that Michael Schumacher’s family owns a home in Port d'Andratx. Meanwhile, the statement further stated that the mayor only said, “In case the family decides to move here, we will be prepared for their arrival.”
