Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Shock: Sussex Pair's A-list Pals Who Are Reportedly Hesitant to Disassociate from Royal Family

Some celebrities who were once close to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry appear to be treading a tightrope between the couple and the Firm.

The A-list friends of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly hesitant to disassociate themselves from the Royal Family. Some celebrities who were once close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appear to be treading a tightrope between the couple and the Firm, trying not to take sides in the continuing spat.

Since relocating to California in 2020, the couple has frequently been spotted on nights out with well-known A-listers. Despite Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s constant criticisms, some of these renowned figures have remained neutral in the tensions and maintained relationships with the royals. Below is a list of well-known personalities who are still close to the royals and the Sussex pair, per Express UK.

George Clooney and Amal Clooney

In 2018, George and Amal Clooney attended Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding in Windsor. Amal was even invited to Meghan's baby shower in New York City in 2019 after the wedding.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry even revealed in their biography “Finding Freedom” that George and Amal Clooney have also hosted them at least twice at their Berkshire home. "I've just known them. We live not too far from one another and we have dinners and stuff and we're friends with them for all the reasons that you're friends with anybody. They're just really, really nice, fun, kind people, they're a very loving couple, and they're going to be great parents,” the “Ocean’s Eleven” star told Daily Mail in 2019.

Despite their proximity to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, George and Amal Clooney supported King Charles III at a Prince's Trust event in London in May.

David Beckham and Victoria Beckham

David and Victoria Beckham were also present for the royal wedding of the Sussexes in 2018. Meghan Markle is said to have made friends with Victoria when she initially relocated to the UK in 2017.

Royal author Tom Bower stated that by the time Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were engaged, she and Victoria had "grown close" and would "regularly text." David is also said to have been close to Prince Harry, praising him when he moved to the United States.

"We love him and he's an amazing person - and that's the important thing - but I'm proud to see him growing up as an individual and being that person that every father wants to be,” the English former footballer said of Prince Harry.

However, it was revealed this year that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had concerns that the Beckhams had leaked information to the press regarding Meghan's assistance from Victoria. This is a claim that the former Spice Girl refuted, which also reportedly enraged David.

Meanwhile, David Beckham, who is a big fan of the royals, accepted a dinner invitation from King Charles last week, according to Daily Mail. The dinner will include a discussion regarding his role as an ambassador for The Prince's Foundation. David previously served in a similar capacity for the Invictus Games, which Prince Harry launched in 2014.

Katy Perry

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry look to be close friends with Katy Perry, but their relationship hasn't always been easy. It was previously believed that Meghan had a "grudge" toward Katy, who attended the couple's wedding, because of a critical statement she earlier made about Meghan's wedding gown.

During a promotional tour for “American Idol” in the United States in 2018, Katy quipped that she would have "done one more fitting" for Meghan Markle's dress. In 2022, a source informed the Daily Star that Meghan was "aware" of Katy's remark and is "notorious for holding grudges."

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were spotted dancing the night away at her concert last week, indicating that they are now fans of the singer. Katy is also close to the royals, having been picked to perform at the King's Coronation Concert in May. In addition to attending the Coronation ceremony the day before, Katy played in front of 20,000 visitors at Windsor Castle, alongside Take That and Lionel Richie.
