Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr. 2019: Both Fighters’ Camps in Talk About Possible Rematch; Update Could Come Out Next Week

The camp of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is reportedly conversing about a possible rematch between both these boxing icons. The source is supposedly the Filipino slugger himself who even went as far as to say that news about this development could come out in the next week or so, Rappler (via WordBoxingNews) reported.

Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are slated to attend the defense title of Errol Spence Jr. against Mikey Garcia – both of which are undefeated fighters. The fight will take place on March 16 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas.

Whoever wins that bout is expected to fight Manny Pacquiao should negotiations between the senator’s camp and Floyd Mayweather Jr. goes south. While the Filipino icon seems confident enough to land a rematch against Mayweather, it’s likely not going to take place. At least, for the time being.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has already announced that he’s going to be fighting more exhibition matches this 2019, which will reportedly yield him an accumulated sum of $80 million. His first fight this year is reportedly against a former Japanese boxer who has yet to be named. The bout will apparently pay the American boxer $10 million for three rounds. Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao is also undecided who he’s going to be fighting next although prospects have already come forward.

Among them is Error Spence Jr. who recently called out the senator to step into the ring. The 24-year-old American appears confident enough to take on the future Hall of Famer and recently reminisced his sparring match with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

For his part, Manny Pacquiao has yet to reply from the challenge as he’s still waiting how Spence Jr. will handle his title defense. The young boxer is quite an interesting matchup for Pacquiao as both men are southpaw fighters. Their fighting styles are also leaning towards deftly trading blows with their opponent, which will prove entertaining should their fight take place. If so, then it will surely surpass the Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight in 2015 that most have considered as a letdown despite being touted as the fight of the century.
