Dayton, Ohio, Feb. 02, 2017 -- MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB), a leading National Security company delivering advanced engineering services, cybersecurity and product solutions, announced today that James (Jim) Sawyer and Robert (Bob) Stafford have both been promoted to Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Mr. Sawyer and Mr. Stafford have more than 60 years of combined technical and operational experience, with increasing levels of responsibility throughout their careers.
Mr. Sawyer, who is based in MacB’s Vienna, Virginia office, has more than 30 years of engineering services experience, progressing from a senior engineer to President and CEO of Commonwealth Technology, Inc. before the company was acquired by MacB in 2014. In October 2015, he joined the corporate business development staff to deliver solutions-based capabilities to both new and existing MacB customers, and unify technology processes across all business units. In his new role, Mr. Sawyer will continue to directly report to Don Raines, Senior Vice President, Corporate Business Development and Capture. His duties will include integrating technical capabilities and identifying new applications and customers for MacB’s disruptive technologies.
Mr. Stafford is a nationally-recognized test expert who has developed high-fidelity Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) test infrastructure, test methodologies, and instrumentation systems that are at the pinnacle of Air Force Test Center (AFTC) capabilities. He has led the growth of MacB’s Special Projects and test wing business, Foreign Material Exploitation work, and numerous Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) projects that has led to the company’s exceptionally strong position in the Dayton community. Mr. Stafford, who is based in MacB’s Dayton office, has more than 30 years of Airborne Radar, Missile and Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) development, as well as Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) expertise.
In his new role as VP and CTO, Mr. Stafford will continue his technical leadership in testing within laboratory environments and developing new solutions in the high-tech arena. He will continue reporting directly to Tim Lawrence, Senior Vice President and General Manager of MacB’s Advanced Technology Group (ATG).
“Jim Sawyer has years of experience in nearly every facet of running and growing a business in our industry,” said Raines. “He has earned the title of Vice President and CTO by working tirelessly to expand the technical capabilities necessary for diversification across the organization and to meet our customers’ mission needs. With his combined years of experience, Jim has increased our competitive discriminators for new and existing business opportunities.”
“Bob has an extraordinary combination of experience and technical leadership, which has led to MacB’s development of innovative test technology and its application to test modern day weapon systems,” said Lawrence. “Bob has built lab capabilities and a nationally-recognized technical team to support our customer’s most critical missions, and will help identify new applications and customers that can use MacB’s disruptive capabilities to solve today’s test problems.”
“On behalf of our Senior Leadership Team and corporate staff, I want to congratulate Jim and Bob on their recent promotions to Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at MacB,” said Sid Fuchs, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are proud to continually invest in and recognize our outstanding people, processes, customers and technology throughout the organization.”
