'Lucifer' Season 4 Latest News: Vinessa Vidotto Cast as the Angel Remiel

LuciferNetflix/Facebook

Looks like Remiel is going to be a female angel in the TV adaptation of “Lucifer.” According to Deadline, Vinessa Vidotto is joining the cast of “Lucifer” Season 4 as the angel Remiel.

“The role description calls Remiel a ‘classic little-sister’ character who admires her eldest brother, the mighty Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside), but also feels under-appreciated or overshadowed while struggling to match his towering standards. Remiel idolizes her big brother but dealing with the self-righteous alpha-dog of angels isn’t always easy,” Geoff Boucher said in his report for Deadline.

“The show is clearly going toward a different version of Remiel, who traditionally is described as the Angel of Hope — which makes the character an especially apt addition for next year’s back-from-the-dead Lucifer season,” he added.

Vidotto is known for her work in the 2016 Matthew Ramirez film “Piper in the Woods” where she plays the Piper. The character she is going to portray in “Lucifer” Season 4 is actually male in the source material, but the change in gender shouldn’t matter much.

Aside from Vidotto, Graham McTavish and Inbar Lavi are added to the cast of “Lucifer” Season 4 as well. McTavish will play a revered priest named Father Kinley, while Lavi portrays Eve, the original sinner who ate the fruit of knowledge in the Garden of Eden. “Lucifer” Season 4 should be interesting with the three new characters.

“Lucifer” stars Tom Ellis as the titular character with Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, D. B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Scarlett Estevez, Rachael Harris, Tricia Helfer, and Aimee Garcia playing significant roles as well. The show was canceled by Fox earlier this year after three seasons, but Netflix decided to pick up the series in June after an outpouring of fan support. Filming for “Lucifer” Season 4 has already started, and the series should come out sometime in 2019.
