“Lost in Space” season 2 is now in production and it is only right because Netflix confirmed its renewal almost a year ago on May 14, 2018. The announcement was made very early because it was done just a day after season 1 premiered in April of that same year.
Although “Lost in Space” had two remakes already which include a film in 1998 and a TV show in 2004, Netflix still wants to revive it but with a modern approach to fit with the times. Thus, in 2018, the streaming site recreated and showed their own version of the classic film via the new series.
As per Digital Spy, “Lost in Space” season 2 will continue from where the first season ended. The Robinsons family was really lost in space after their Jupiter ship went off-course and move to some uncharted destination. The family is no longer on the same planet as before thus filming for the second installment was also changed from Vancouver, British Columbia to Iceland.
“Lost in Space” season 2 is likely to return with most of its characters intact. This means that we will be seeing the same set of cast from season 1. The Robinsons’ family Maureen (Molly Parker) and John (Toby Stephens) will reprise their roles as the parents and the kids, Judy (Taylor Russell), Will (Maxwell Jenkins) and Penny (Mina Sundwall) will all be back. As per Deadline, Sibongile Mlambo was promoted as a series regular cast and will resume her role in the drama as Angela.
“Lost in Space” season 2 may be released in the second half of 2019 as filming already wrapped up last month. To be more specific, it is likely to premiere in September after all the post-production works.
