The 2016 award winners are Housing Referral Specialist, Aletha Aikens, of Naval Support Activity Annapolis, and Interim Installation Program Director, Jonitta Harris, of Naval Station Norfolk – Housing Service Center.
These individuals serve as an advocate for the service member and their family and work hand in hand with the Lincoln Military Housing team to ensure our military families receive outstanding service. Each nominee is chosen based on criteria such as having excellent communication, exhibiting a positive attitude, a team player, dependable, effective problem-solving skills, and the willingness to go the extra mile for our military families.
Alethea has brightened up the Housing Office at Annapolis with her "can do" attitude and big smiles every day throughout the year. She is always so pleasant and willing to help in any way she can. Alethea is a fantastic government partner and has become a member of the LMH family. She is consistent with giving us referrals and she clearly cares about the well- being of the service members. Alethea has been a great help with assisting the Annapolis team in all six Town Hall Meetings and the National Night Out Event in 2016. She has shown great support for LMH and works quickly to help communicate needs to Public Works, Command, Police Dept, School Liaison, etc. Alethea has really taken the time to ensure new employees who have joined the team feel welcome as one family together. We truly appreciate all of Alethea's great efforts as our Partner at Annapolis!
Jonitta is a valuable resource for our military families and our Lincoln team. The way she is both an advocate and a resourceful partner is simply amazing. Quick to provide support when visiting a resident's home, she also engages with their command and schedules meetings when necessary - and so much more! While we sometimes only think about resident issues and challenges when engaging our Housing partners, Jonitta also provides needed support to our residents, sometimes by just listening to a spouse of a deployed service member who just wants someone to talk to or ask about programs and information to help during separations. Her heart is always in the right place, and she truly cares about our residents. Simply put - she always does what is right, not what is needed or wanted. Thank you for everything you do for our great military families and Lincoln, and congratulations on being our Partner of the Year!
Nominees for the Lincoln Military Housing Partner of the Year Award are selected by Lincoln Military Housing employees that work alongside these exemplary men and women. The award is presented each year at the annual Gold Medallion ceremony.
