BOSTON, Feb. 01, 2017 -- LearnLaunch, a leading education technology program, and Rocky Hill School, an independent day school for preschool through grade 12, announced a partnership that will pioneer a new paradigm for bringing EdTech into schools. By operating on-site at Rocky Hill School in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, LearnLaunch becomes the first EdTech accelerator to co-locate in a K-12 campus environment.

In this first-of-its-kind effort, Rocky Hill School is designing a new innovation center on its campus, with LearnLaunch as an anchor tenant. As a key element of the center, selected education technology companies that are part of LearnLaunch's accelerator cohort and co-working space will work on-site to test and develop new EdTech products, with students and faculty playing a pivotal role and providing feedback.
“This model is unlike any other we’ve seen in the country, and it is a win-win for entrepreneurs, students, and faculty,” explained LearnLaunch Managing Director Liam Pisano. “Student and teachers will work hand-in-hand with EdTech entrepreneurs to collaborate on product development. LearnLaunch companies will be able to effectively accelerate the pace that proven EdTech innovation gets to market. Students will work with cutting-edge technology and learn about business development in the process.”
“This exciting partnership will afford students and faculty at Rocky Hill School the opportunity, unique in the nation, to collaborate in creating and refining the next generation of digital classroom tools,” said Dr. James Tracy, Head of School at Rocky Hill School. “Our students will have the opportunity to intern directly with the visionary entrepreneurs who are creating the very breakthrough technologies that will shape our educational future.”
LearnLaunch companies will begin residency on Rocky Hill School’s 84-acre waterfront campus in September 2017.
