CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (18th May) and cover positions up to Tuesday (15th May). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions; however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.

- Gold – Net position long and increasing
Long positions declined last week. The net long positions got decreased by 14,997 contracts to +92.4K contracts.
- Copper – Net position long and increasing
Long positions rose for the first time in seven weeks. The net longs rose by 2,903 contracts to +36.3K contracts.
- Silver – Net position shifted from short to long
The long positions rose last week and by 779 contracts to +658 contracts.
- WTI Crude – Net position long and decreasing
Speculators reduced long positions for a fourth consecutive week and by 35,484 contracts, which brought the net positions to +644.4K contracts.
- Natural gas – Net position short and decreasing
Short positions declined sharply last week and by 30,595 contracts that pushed the net position to -93.4K contracts.
