Israeli Airstrikes Kill 10 Palestinians in Gaza as Ceasefire Diplomacy Stalls

Israeli Airstrikes Kill 10 Palestinians in Gaza as Ceasefire Diplomacy Stalls. Source: Israel Condemns UN Genocide Warning Over Gaza Aid Blockade

An Israeli airstrike on a police station in Gaza killed nine Palestinians on Wednesday, according to medics, as diplomatic efforts to advance U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan remained stalled.

Medical and police sources said several officers were among those killed in the strike on what Gaza’s Hamas-led interior ministry described as the municipal police headquarters. Fifteen people were also wounded.

The ministry said eight senior police officers and a 13-year-old girl who was nearby were killed. The Israeli military said it targeted Hamas militants who were operating from the civilian police station and allegedly preparing attacks against Israeli forces.

Elsewhere, an Israeli airstrike in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza killed another Palestinian, bringing Wednesday’s reported death toll to at least 10. Israel said that strike also targeted a Hamas militant.

The latest violence came two days after U.S. envoy Jared Kushner concluded a regional visit without securing progress on implementing Trump’s plan to end the Gaza war.

Trump announced in late July that Hamas had accepted a roadmap requiring the group to gradually decommission its weapons while Israeli forces withdrew from Gaza and halted military operations. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the proposed sequencing, maintaining that Hamas must fully disarm before Israel withdraws.

Hamas, meanwhile, has demanded that Israel comply with the ceasefire and remove its forces from Gaza. The disagreement over disarmament and withdrawal has become a major obstacle to implementing the agreement.

A Hamas official said Wednesday that mediators Egypt, Qatar and Turkey had been warned that continued Israeli targeted strikes could affect the group’s position on the agreement.

Hamas political leader Khalil Al-Hayya also met Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani in Doha to discuss Gaza. Qatar called for international pressure on Israel to meet its obligations under the agreement.

Since the Gaza ceasefire was reached last October, more than 1,200 Palestinians and four Israeli soldiers have been killed, according to Gazan health officials and the Israeli military.
