German carmaker Audi and its two Chinese partners, FAW and SAIC, announced that they will sell and service its future products via the FAW-Volkswagen Audi investor network.
Audi, along with FAW, will expand its locally-produced portfolio to 12 vehicles by 2021. Products from its second partner, SAIC, are expected to be introduced in 2022.
In October, Audi signed an MoU with FAW for the joint production of electric vehicles based on the Premium Platform Electric, which was developed jointly by Porsche and Audi.
The carmaker will produce its first EV models on the PPE beginning 2024.
Audi China President Werner Eichhorn acknowledged strong local partners as important cornerstones for its success in China, which it called its most important market in the world."
Audi has sold over 6 million vehicles in China, more than any other premium brand.
