Guide to today’s important data and events

Not many economic dockets scheduled for today, focus on RBNZ monetary policy.

Data released so far 

  • Australia - Home loans declined by -0.5% in October. Investment lending for homes declined by -6.1%.
  • China - Consumer price index failed to grow in November, up 1.5% from a year ago. Producer price index declined by -5.9%.

 Upcoming 

  • Japan - Machine tools orders (flash estimate) to be released at 6:00 GMT.
     
  • Switzerland - Unemployment rate for November to be released at 6:45 GMT.
     
  • Germany - Trade balance for October to be released at 7:00 GMT.
     
  • US - MBA mortgage applications to be released at 12:00 GMT, followed by wholesale inventories at 15:00 GMT. EIA will release crude oil inventory report at 15:30 GMT.
     
  • New Zealand - RBNZ will announce interest rate decision at 20:00 GMT. Electronic card retail sales to be released at 21:45 GMT.
     
  • Japan - Corporate goods price for November to be released at 23:50 GMT.
     
  • Auctions - Germany will auction 30 year bond. Spain will auction 6 month and 12 month bonds. US will auction 10 year bond at 18:00 GMT.
