Guide to today’s important data and events

Lots of economic dockets scheduled for today and some with high risks associated.

Data released so far -

  • Australia - Current account balance for third quarter came at -18.1 billion. Building permits rose by 3.9% in October, up 12.3% from a year ago. Reserve bank of Australia kept policy on hold. RBA commodity index is down -22% in November.
  • China - Non-manufacturing PMI for November improved to 53.6, while manufacturing PMI weakened to 49.6. Caixin manufacturing PMI rose to 48.6 in November.
  • Japan - Manufacturing PMI came at 52.6 in November.
  • India - Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kept rates on hold.
  • Switzerland - GDP fails to grow in third quarter.

  • Spain - Manufacturing PMI to be released at 8:15 GMT.

  • Switzerland - Retail sales to be released at 8:15 GMT, followed by PMI at 8:30 GMT.

  • Italy - Manufacturing PMI to be released at 8:45 GMT, followed by unemployment report at 9:00 GMT.

  • France - Manufacturing PMI to be released at 8:50 GMT.

  • Germany - Manufacturing PMI to be released at 8:50 GMT, along with unemployment details.

  • Greece - Manufacturing PMI to be released at 9:00 GMT.

  • Euro Zone - Manufacturing PMI to be released at 9:00 GMT, followed by unemployment report at 10:00 GMT.

  • UK - BOE governor Mark Carney is scheduled to speak at 9:00 GMT.

  • Canada - Third quarter GDP report to be released at 13:30 GMT, followed by manufacturing PMI at 14:30 GMT.

  • US - Redbook index to be released at 13:55 GMT, followed by Markit manufacturing PMI at 14:45 GMT and Ism manufacturing PMI at 15:00 GMT. FED's Evans is scheduled to speak at 17:45 GMT.

  • New Zealand - Global dairy auctions scheduled for today.

  • Australia - RBA governor Glenn Stevens scheduled to speak at 23:30 GMT.
