‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ may feature Ayesha as the sequel’s main villain. Elizabeth Debicki is speculated to play the new character after she was cast in the film. Meanwhile, director James Gunn was all praises for his cast.

According to JoBlo, Debicki will most likely play the newest antagonist named Ayesha, also known as Kismet, Her and Paragon. Although her actual role is yet to be confirmed, the article insisted that their independent sources pointed to Ayesha as the sequel’s main villain.

The character is considered an important antagonist since she was created by the Enclave, a collective of scientists set on world domination. She was known as the second attempt at creating a perfect life form following the creation of ‘Him’, who ended up resisting the Enclave’s control. Him would later evolve to become Adam Warlock.

Ayesha’s Her is enhanced to possess superhuman abilities equal to that of Adam Warlock’s Him. She has the power of cosmic energy manipulation as well as superhuman speed, stamina, strength, agility, and durability. She also has the power of flight and is essentially immortal.

In the original story, Ayesha escapes in search of Him who she considers as her perfect mate to spawn a new super powerful race of perfect beings. Speculations emerged that Ayesha’s involvement in the sequel would possibly mean that Adam Warlock will also be making an appearance.

It has long been theorized that Adam Warlock will be revealed as Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord’s real father in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). According to Bustle, this may lead the series into a whole new interesting direction with Adam starting off as a villain but eventually turning to fight alongside the Guardians in order to defeat Thanos.

Gunn’s second film will is set to reveal the truth behind Peter’s real parentage. Chris Pratt returns as Peter Quill together with co-stars Zoe Saldana who plays Gamora, Vin Diesel who voices Groot, Bradley Cooper who voices Rocket, and Dave Bautista who voices Drax the Destroyer. Karen Gillian, Glenn Close, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone, and Michael Rooker are also starring in the new film.

The director praised his new ensemble cast saying that each member had been fantastic during filming. According to Comicbook.com, he said, “I think the movie’s coming together really, really well…Every single actor that was in the first movie has gotten exponentially better. They all know their characters more deeply. Dave Bautista is absolutely killing it. Pom, who plays Mantis is killing it. Karen Gillan has had an amazing couple of weeks. She’s just been fantastic. So I think that there’s some really great stuff."

The first film proved to be a mainstream and box office success, earning $773.3 million worldwide against a $170 million production budget. It received numerous awards and nominations including an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects as well as a People’s Choice Awards nomination for Favorite Movie.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ is an upcoming superhero film based on the Marvel comics team of the same name. It is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2017.
