Guangdong province has so far built 98,613 5G base stations covering major cities in the Pearl River Delta region, according to local authorities.
Of the total, the southern Chinese province completed 61,625 5G base stations in the first eight months of the year, covering the eastern, western, and northern areas of Guangdong.
The number of 5G users in Guangdong has exceeded 20.7 million.
Guangdong intends to beef up the construction of 5G infrastructure that would improve indoor 5G networks, such as those in commercial buildings, residential areas, and industrial parks.
The province has about 1,600 companies that deal with 5G networks, including chips, components and parts, raw materials, manufacturing equipment, and terminal products.
