AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, July 27, 2017 -- Playa Hotels & Resorts N.V., (NASDAQ:PLYA) today appointed Gloria Guevara to serve as an interim non-executive director of the Company’s Board of Directors (the “Board”) until the Company’s (“Playa”) 2018 annual general meeting of shareholders.
Ms. Guevara, has more than 25 years of experience working in travel and tourism in both the private and public sectors. She currently serves as Special Advisor on Government Affairs at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health where she advises governments on effective strategies to grow sustainable tourism.
Ms Guevara is also a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council taskforce for Travel and Tourism.
Previously, she served as the Secretary of Tourism for Mexico (2010-2012), and as the CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board, appointed by President Felipe Calderon. She also worked for Sabre Travel Network and Saber Holding, including as CEO of Sabre Mexico.
Ms. Guevara is a graduate of the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and holds a BS from Anahuac University, Jalisco, Mexico.

Ms. Guevara replaces Paul Hackwell, who resigned from his service as a director of the Company on July 27, 2017.
