Global geopolitical Series: Trump defends better relations with Russia as ‘good thing’

American mainstream media and politicians from both parties went berserk (though crazy is more appropriate word) after it was revealed that President Trump congratulated Russian president Vladimir Putin on his overwhelming election victory(which is actually a regular affair, done by every President before him) last weekend, where President Putin received more than 75 percent of the votes. After the news went public, the majority of the mainstream media houses started bashing Trump on air and turned up the heat and focus on the conspiracy theory (United States’ House Intelligence Committee closed the probe as it found no evidence) that the Trump campaign actually colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.

Republican Senator John McCain even described President Putin as a dictator in one of his tweet, “An American president does not lead the Free World by congratulating dictators on winning sham elections. And by doing so with Vladimir Putin, President Trump insulted every Russian citizen who was denied the right to vote in a free and fair election.”

President Trump took to Twitter defending his congratulations and once again defended his belief that a better relationship between the U.S. and Russia is a good thing. In one of his promises made during his election campaign of 2016, Trump promised to improve relations with Russia and from his tweet, it looks like that it is still on the agenda, despite domestic and international pressure. He tweeted, “I called President Putin of Russia to congratulate him on his election victory (in past, Obama called him also). The Fake News Media is crazed because they wanted me to excoriate him. They are wrong! Getting along with Russia (and others) is a good thing, not a bad thing............They can help solve problems with North Korea, Syria, Ukraine, ISIS, Iran and even the coming Arms Race. Bush tried to get along, but didn’t have the “smarts.” Obama and Clinton tried, but didn’t have the energy or chemistry (remember RESET). PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH!”
