Global Geopolitical Series: Key updates from across the world

Here are some key events to keep a tab on,

  • Russia-U.S. - Syria: Reports suggest that OPCW inspectors have visited the site of the alleged chemical attack in Syria and have collected the necessary samples. French President Macron has urged the UK and the United States to remain in Syria.    
     
  • Russia-UK-Skripal: Unconfirmed report suggests that UK police have identified the key suspects behind the chemical poisoning of Yulia Skripal and his father. According to UK Telegraph that they have been told that some of the suspects have very likely to have returned to Russia. On the other hand, Russia says that the Skripal poisoning was a fabricated lie as they claim that the poison wasn’t Novichok.   
     
  • Korean Peninsula: The much anticipated meeting between North and South Korea would take place in the coming Fridy, when South Korean President Moon Jae in would meet North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong Un.
     
  • Palestine - Israel: Violence continues in Gaza strip as Palestinians pmarch against what they call is Israel’s occupation of their land. Scores of people have been killed and wounded in the latest spark of violence, where Palestinians stage a rally to return to what they call is their homeland, forcefully occupied by Israel.    
     
  • Israel-Iran: Tensions remain high as the harsh war of words continues between Israel and Iran. While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his country stands ready to repeal any attack, Iranian commander replied saying that Israel shouldn’t rely on its air force as the aerodromes are in the range of Iranian missiles. In recent days, Israel has carried out several attacks on Iranian camps in Syria.
     
  • Russia-Israel: While the two countries enjoy an amicable relationship, the former has warned the latter against striking Russian military defense systems, such as S300, operating in the Syrian region in order to strike Iran’s military posyst within Syria.
