Global Geopolitical Series: Israel’s Netanyahu praises Trump’s Middle East moves; says U.S. to move embassy sooner than anticipated

Speaking to reporters during his India visit, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the United States will move its Israeli embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem much sooner than everyone anticipates and that could be as early as the end of the year. He added that the embassy move was only one of the Key announcements made by the Trump administration in the recent months, other two being 120-day negotiating clock for the JCPOA, better known as Iran nuclear agreement and cutting funding to UNWRA, which is United Nation’s relief and work agency for the Palestinian refugees, which was set up in 1949 as an international response to Palestinian refugees and their descendants and is active in the West Bank and Gaza, as well as neighboring countries, including Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.

Netanyahu praised the decision made by the U.S. President Donald Trump with regard to UNRWA and added that this is the first time the agency is being challenged.

He also praised President Trump’s ultimatum on the Iranian nuclear deal, offering 120 days to fix or nix the accord, describing it a strategically significant step.
