Global Geopolitical Series: Emir of Kuwait vows to support Palestinians’ return march till end

According to a statement issued by Ismail Haniyeh’s office, the Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah during his telephonic conversation with the head of the political bureau of Hamas Movement, Ismail Haniyeh has said that the Palestinian cause is also the cause of the Kuwaiti leadership and people and vowed to support the Palestinian march till the very end.

The Palestinian march, known as the ‘march of return’ began on 30th March, when scores of Palestinians marched towards Israeli border in order to cross into Jerusalem, which they describe as their rightful land forcefully occupied by Israel. The marches have so far resulted in clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli armed forces that have led to deaths of many. According to the opposition, more than 100 protesters have been killed by Israeli forces, with thousands more injured.

According to the statement, Haniyeh said that Kuwait’s support for the Palestinian issue at the UN Security Council and the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul is a reflection of Kuwait’s inherent and steadfast position towards Hamas’ people and its national cause and its embrace of the March of Return.
