Germany's industrial production likely to rise in October

Germany's industrial production (mom on seasonally adjusted basis) is expected by consensus to be 0.7 for the month of October, while for previous month, it was -1.1.

The industrial production WDS yoy is expected to be 0.6 in October, as per market consensus. While there are firm downside risks, as there is weakening external demand and the impact of VW scandal, remaining data indicates resilience in industry sector activity.

"Having disappointed sizeably for the past two months, we expect industrial production to rise by 0.8% mom in October, following the decline of 1.1% mom in September. We would expect further headwinds in coming months but a gradually improving picture at the start of next year", says Societe Generale in a research note.
