French Presidential front-runner Emmanuel Macron’s campaign suffered a blow over his comments with regard to Algeria. On a visit to Algiers this week, Mr. Macron said that France’s history in Algeria was a crime against humanity, “It’s really barbaric and is part of that past that we must face up to also by apologizing to those who were hurt”. Algerians lived under French rule for 132 years until the country won a bloody war of independence in 1962. The Algerian government says the conflict killed 1.5 million of its citizens. His rival National Front leader Marine Le pen swiftly responded via Facebook, “Is there anything worse when you want to become president than going abroad to accuse the country you want to lead of crime against humanity?” While Later on, Mr. Macron defended his comments, but we believe that the National Front is likely to say if he has any tears from the French people suffering at home.
It is not sure as of now, how much these comments would hurt Mr. Macron’s ratings in the poll, but the odds of his win has declined sharply in some betting websites from 56 percent to 40 percent. According to the polls, he is the last candidate standing between the French Presidency and Marine Le Pen, who has promised to take France out of the Eurozone.
