Chicago, Illinois, March 06, 2018 -- Mark Potok, a former senior fellow at the Southern Poverty Law Center, will speak at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago on March 7 during the law school’s annual Diversity Week.

Potok, who is one of the country’s leading experts on the world of radical extremism, will speak on “The State of Hate in America.” The event is being sponsored by Chicago law firm Kupets & DeCaro P.C.
Potok currently serves as the editor-in-chief of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s prestigious journal, the Intelligence Report. Before joining the SPLC, he was an award-winning journalist at newspapers including, USA Today and The Miami Herald. In his current position, Potok is still regularly quoted by major media, scholars and book authors in both the U.S. and abroad. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago.
Each year, John Marshall hosts a week of programming celebrating the law school’s diversity. The events, include daily presentations and discussions with legal experts and community leaders on topics related to diversity and current events. John Marshall has been rated “one of the most diverse law schools in the nation” and was rated the top law school in the Midwest for African-American and Asian students by preLaw magazine and National Jurist magazine in 2018.
