“Final Fantasy 7 Remake” has always been advertised to “reinvent” the original title from the ‘90s in various aspects. And with months left before its official release date, Square Enix seems to still surprise gaming fans with several ways they are remaking the game.
One of the first confirmed details about “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” is that it will introduce a new battle system that is still based on the RPG genre. In recent months, developers also addressed some small but noticeable changes such as Tifa’s figure. Over the weekend, Square Enix has once again revealed another way they are remaking the original game — with an improved interaction among the characters.
‘Final Fantasy 7 Remake’ gameplay: How characters’ interactions will change
Square Enix revealed substantial “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” contents during E3 2019 last month. But it appears that the teasers will not stop there. Siliconera reported that the video game company held an exclusive gameplay demo presentation during the 2019 Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong (ACGHK) that commenced on Friday through Tuesday. In the special event, game producer Yoshinori Kitase unveiled the full opening scene of the Bombing Mission that was previewed at E3.
The same report took note of the obvious changes in the interactions between the characters in “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” compared to the original game. For one, Barrett’s lack of trust and hostility towards Cloud is much more apparent. Barrett’s demeanor does not sit well with Jessie who is seemingly more frustrated in the remake than in the ‘90s release.
Another interesting scene reportedly included in “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” is when Jessie asks Cloud about his relationship with Tifa. But the main protagonist gets a chance to evade the question when they have to board the elevator. These aspects of the game may not be on the same level as the changes in the combat system and overall gameplay. But having more personality in the characters and a more dynamic relationship is certainly something to look forward to.
‘Final Fantasy 7 Remake’ release date
Many gaming fans speculated that the launch of “Kingdom Hearts 3” last January means the release of “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” is imminent since the titles are both directed by Tetsuya Nomura. It turned out they were right, and the remake is now confirmed to be released on March 3, 2020, exclusively on PlayStation 4.
