Ryan Murphy’s latest series “Feud” has yet to premiere on Sunday, but an order for the show’s Season 2 has been done. According to Deadline, FX ordered 10-episode season of the anthology series, but this time will focus on people long way from Hollywood, but are in their right, celebrities: Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.
Expected to air next year, “Feud: Charles and Diana” will be co-written by Murphy and Jon Robin Baitz. Baitz, who created the 2006 drama “Brothers and Sisters” and is also onboard as a consulting producer on Murphy’s other project, “Katrina: American Crime Story.”
Murphy already discussed the reason why he decided to look elsewhere for a story instead of Hollywood, which is already rich of historical gossip and drama. After all, Vox said Season 1 of “Feud” will focus on decades-long deep freeze between stars Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. “Feud: Bette and Joan” will star Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange as Davis and Crawford, focusing on their rivalry while collaborating on the 1962 thriller “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?”.
Talking to critic-at-large Todd VanDerWerff for the latter’s first episode of “I Think You’re Interesting” podcast show, Murphy said Crawford and Davis will be the first and the last for Hollywood. He said, “The thing that attracted me to the Bette-and-Joan feud was that it was a 40-year-long feud. It really was about, if these two women sat down and had a 10-minute conversation, they would’ve been best friends. Looking forward to [other] seasons, we’re looking at all different types of feuds. But ... that’s what every thread will be about. If they had just sat down and realized that their anger was about hurt, they could make it work.”
As for the cast and details of the show, E! said fans of the new show should expect the appearance of Queen Elizabeth II, Camilla Parker Bowles (who is now Prince Charles' current wife) and James Hewitt (the British Army officer Diana had a five-year affair with) in the second season.
