‘Fast 8’ Cast, Updates: Michelle Rodriguez Reacts to Vin Diesel-Dwayne Johnson Public Feud, Jason Statham Stays Out of Behind-the-Scenes Drama

‘Fast 8’ actress Michelle Rodriguez shared her own opinions on the Vin Deiesel-Dwayne Johnson feud. Co-star Jason Statham also expressed his thoughts on the behind-the-scenes drama.

According to People, Rodriguez expressed her own thoughts on the alleged feud between lead male co-stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson while attending the Call of Duty XP Fan Celebration event in Los Angeles.

Rodriguez said, "Any human being who knows what men are like knows to stay out [of those] situations and let them figure it out… They're 'bros', man… They're friends, and ultimately even friends reach a point where they have to set aside their differences to make a movie for multi-cultural people around the world, and that is the bigger scheme of things."

The 38-year old actress is set to reprise her role as professional street racer Letty Ortiz, who is married to Diesel’s character Dominic Toretto. In addition to Diesel and Johnson, other cast members include Tyrese Gibson, Elsa Pataky, Kurt Russell, Lucas Black, Jason Statham, Nathalie Emmanuel, Chris Bridges, Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood, and Helen Mirren.

Diesel and Johnson starred in the highly popular action franchise together since Johnson joined the cast as DSS agent Luke Hobbs in Justin Lin’s ‘Fast Five’ released on 2011. Johnson’s performance as Hobbs was praised by critics. Lin’s film was also deemed a commercial success after earning $626.14 million worldwide on a production budget of $125 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

The feud began when Johnson took to social media to complain about his male co-stars in ‘Fast 8’. Although no names were mentioned, it was quickly speculated that Diesel was the one he was referring to on his August 8 Instagram post.

An excerpt from Johnson’s lengthy post read, “My female co-stars are always amazing and I love 'em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't. The ones that don't are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy a**es.”

Statham, who plays special forces assassin Deckard Shaw in the series, expressed his own opinions on the feud. During an interview with E! News, he said, "I'm good with them… We're good pals, and if [Johnson's] got any problem with me then he'd probably tell me to my face. So I'm good with them."

‘Fast 8’ is an upcoming action film scheduled to be released in theaters on April 14, 2017. It is directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Chris Morgan. It is intended as the eighth installment in the highly popular and commercially successful ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise.

The film is produced under One Race Films and Original Film and distributed by Universal Pictures.
