'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them' Officially Rated PG-13; Special Screenings to Take Place on Harry Potter Studio Tour in London

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’ is officially rated PG-13 by the MPAA. Special screenings are also reported to take place during the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London.

According to an article on Fansided, the upcoming live-action adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off novel is officially rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc (MPAA).

The move echoes some of the other PG-13 films in the main ‘Harry Potter’ cinematic series, specifically 2005’s ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’, 2007’s ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’, 2010 and 2011’s ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 and 2’.

MPAA’s rating led some fans to believe that a character would most likely meet his death in the film but MPAA said the rating was only for “for some fantasy action violence.”

Director David Yates’ upcoming film will be the first installment in the planned trilogy. Book author J.K. Rowling made her screenwriting debut for the film and is also serving as executive producer together with David Heyman, Steve Kloves, and Lionel Wigram.

It stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a magizoologist and future author of the titular textbook. Other members of the cast include Katherine Waterston as the witch Porpentina Goldstein, Dan Fogler as the No-Maj Jacob Kowalski, Alison Sudol as the witch Queenie Goldstein, Colin Farrell as the Auror Percival Graves, Samantha Morton as the No-Maj Mary Lou, and Ezra Miller as Mary Lou’s son Credence.

According to The Hamilton Spectator, Yates’ film is deemed the most anticipated film for fall in a new poll conducted by movie ticket website Fandango. Fandango’s managing editor Erik Davis said, "All of this excitement around the Harry Potter universe is feeding into Fantastic Beasts… It's all about timing and Harry Potter's world is clicking with great, calculated timing right now."

Other films that made top five spots in the poll include Antoine Fuqua’s ‘The Magnificent Seven’, Scott Derrickson’s ‘Doctor Strange’, Tate Taylor’s ‘The Girl on the Train’, and Ron Clements and John Musker’s ‘Moana’. The fall season for films begins in two weeks following the Labor Day holiday.

Meanwhile, the upcoming film is scheduled to screen during Warner Bro.’s Harry Potter Studio Tour in London from November 18 to November 20, according to the Telegraph. The Studio Tour will take place in Leavesden Studio, where filming for ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ and the original ‘Harry Potter’ films took place. Attendees will be able to explore the filming sets as well as the costumes and props used in the films.

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’ is an upcoming fantasy-adventure film scheduled to premiere in U.S. theaters on November 18, 2016.
