CHICAGO, April 26, 2017 -- Family Office Exchange will offer their Trustees & Beneficiaries Workshop this year in Atlanta at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center on June 20-21. Here trustees and beneficiaries can get the high-quality, objective, and non-commercial training they need to fulfill their roles in an informed and confident way.
Mariann Mihailidis, Managing Director at FOX and originator of this workshop, explained, “This is essential training for every family. All the families in our network use trusts to organize and transfer wealth. This workshop provides the basics on the legal duties of a trustee and explains the larger perspective needed for the success of the trust. We emphasize the trustee’s responsibility to build a relationship with the beneficiary, to guide them in their personal development and prepare them to positively deal with the money they are receiving.”
“This workshop is also for beneficiaries so they understand the workings of a trust and the duties of the trustee. With this knowledge, the beneficiary can more effectively partner with the trustee for a positive, efficient relationship,” added Ms. Mihailidis.
“Each year, we improve the workshop, based on our learning from past workshops,” said Amy Hart Clyne, Executive Director of the FOX Knowledge Center. “This year we are adding a session about how to choose a trustee, featuring a discussion between Mark K. Harder, Partner, Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, and a client who has just gone through the process of selecting a trustee. We have also added a panel of trustees and beneficiaries who will personally describe their experiences in their roles. Participants will get a glimpse of what the trustee/beneficiary relationship is really like.”
Speaking at this year’s workshop will be Kristen Armstrong, Ph.D., Strategic Wealth Coach, Ascent Private Capital Management of U.S. Bank; David C. Blickenstaff, Partner, Schiff Hardin LLP; Michael J. Flynn, CFA; Mark K. Harder, Partner, Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, Private Client & Family Office Group; Wally Head, Vice Chairman & Principal, Gresham Partners, LLC; Pamela Lucina, Managing Director, BNY Mellon Wealth Management; Susan Massenzio, Ph.D. Co-President, Wise Counsel Research; Tera Rica Murdock, Partner, Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP; Christine Quigley, Partner, Schiff Hardin LLP; Bill Sanderson, Partner, McGuireWoods LLP; John Welsh, Vice President, Wealth Strategy, BNY Mellon Wealth Management; Keith Whitaker, Ph.D., Co-President, Wise Counsel Research; and Amy M.
